Managing Alerts & Best Practices
As you become more experienced, you'll accumulate many alerts across different symbols and conditions. Proper alert management ensures you don't miss important notifications while keeping the noise to a manageable level.
Notification Methods
TradingView supports multiple notification channels:
- Pop-up — appears within the TradingView browser tab (must be open)
- Sound — audio notification (must have TradingView tab open)
- Email — sent to your registered email address
- Phone app — push notification on TradingView mobile app
- Webhook — sends data to a URL (advanced, for automation)
Alert Management Panel
Access all your alerts from the Alerts panel in the right sidebar (clock icon). Here you can see active alerts, triggered alerts, view alert history, edit conditions, pause/resume alerts, and delete alerts you no longer need.
Alert Best Practices
- Name your alerts descriptively (e.g., "AAPL below 150 - check for long entry")
- Review and clean up old alerts weekly
- Use "Once Per Bar Close" for more reliable signals
- Set both email and app notifications for critical alerts
- Don't set too many alerts — alert fatigue leads to ignoring important ones
- Group related alerts by using consistent naming conventions
Pro Tip
Webhook alerts can connect TradingView to trading bots, Telegram channels, Discord servers, or custom applications. This is the foundation of automated trading systems — if you're technically inclined, explore this feature.
