How to Change Timeframes

TradingView makes it easy to switch between timeframes quickly. There are multiple methods, and knowing them all will speed up your analysis workflow.

Method 1: Timeframe Toolbar

The timeframe selector is located in the top toolbar, usually showing buttons like 1, 5, 15, 1H, 4H, D, W, M. Click any button to instantly switch. If you don't see a specific timeframe, click the dropdown arrow to access all available options.

Method 2: Keyboard Shortcuts

For the fastest timeframe switching, use keyboard shortcuts. Type a number and press Enter: for example, type "5" for 5-minute, "60" for 1-hour (60 minutes), "D" for daily, "W" for weekly, "M" for monthly.

Customizing the Timeframe Bar

  1. 1Right-click on the timeframe toolbar
  2. 2Select "Customize toolbar"
  3. 3Add or remove timeframes from the quick-access bar
  4. 4Drag to reorder them as you prefer
  5. 5Click Save to apply your changes

Custom Timeframes (Paid Feature)

Paid plans allow you to create custom timeframes like 2-hour, 3-day, or 2-week candles. This can be useful for finding timeframes that align with your specific trading strategy or backtesting results.

Pro Tip

Customize your timeframe toolbar to show only the timeframes you actually use. A clean toolbar with 4-5 timeframes is much more efficient than scrolling through 15+ options you never click.
